Practical Considerations for Play Therapists Building a Private Practice

Online & Live
3 Non-Contact CEs

You’ve received the play therapy training and experience, but now you want to branch out and start your own play therapy-focused practice! You know what to do in the room, but what about outside of it? It can be daunting to think about where to begin with so many start-up tasks. This training helps provide participants with practical considerations when making decisions in the creation of a play therapy-focused practice.

Participants who attend the training will receive a step-by-step guide of what tasks to complete when setting up and marketing a play therapy practice. Participants will learn how to set up the physical space of the practice including play therapy rooms, what paperwork to prepare, where to focus marketing efforts, and how to structure scheduling, billing, and case management.

Let the lawyers and accountants help with the business and financial aspects of private practice, and then join this workshop to learn from experts in play therapy about what creating and running a successful play therapy-focused private practice really entails day-to-day!

Objectives

Participants will…

  1. …be able to describe challenges and benefits to being involved in a play therapy-focused private practice.
  2. …learn steps to take in order to set up and market a play therapy-focused practice.
  3. …learn how to set up the physical space of the practice including the play therapy room while considering multiculturalism, inclusiveness, and evidence-based practice and adhering to child-centered play therapy principles.
  4. …identify clinical paperwork needed in a play therapy-focused practice.
  5. …identify ways to market play therapy services to parents and the community.
  6. …describe considerations for making decisions regarding private practice logistics such as billing, scheduling, and case management.
