Learning Objectives:
- Participants will be able to integrate the CCPT perspective to better understand autistic children’s play behaviors.
- Participants will describe at least three neurodiversity-affirming strategies that align with CCPT practice.
- Participants will articulate the holistic change process for autistic children in CCPT.
- Participants will identify possible modifications to CCPT protocol for autistic children.
- Participants will identify research evidence supporting the use of CCPT with autistic children.
Speaker:
Regine Chung, PhD, LMHC, RPT™️, RP, CAS, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Niagara University in Lewiston, NY. She earned her PhD in Counselor Education from the University of North Texas (UNT), specializing in play therapy and multicultural counseling. Dr. Chung is a Certified Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) Trainer through UNT’s Center for Play Therapy and has presented at international, regional, and local play therapy conferences.
She has extensive clinical and supervisory experience working with clients across the lifespan, including individuals with diverse neurodevelopmental needs. As the former Assistant Director of the Center for Play Therapy, she provided play therapy services in university community clinics, domestic violence agencies, and general and special education settings. She currently provides counseling services and clinical supervision in private practice.
Dr. Chung has authored several peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on play therapy and multicultural counseling. Her play therapy research with autistic children has earned the Dan E. Homeyer Play Therapy Research Grant Award and the Association for Play Therapy Student Research Award. As a trilingual counselor educator (English, Cantonese, Mandarin), her current research explores multicultural issues in counseling, play therapy, neurodiversity, and immigrant populations, with a focus on improving treatment accessibility and effectiveness.
Fees, CEs, and Participation
This online and live training is only $100 per participant. This fee gets you 3 Non-Contact CE hours. EmpathyWell, PLLC is an Approved APT Provider: 22-674. Participants must be present in order to receive the CE credits and full completion of the course.

If such occurs, EmpathyWell will attempt to notify registrants prior to the workshop and refund all registration, workshop, and fees.
