Documentation and treatment planning in Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) can present unique challenges, particularly when therapists must articulate client progress using concrete, clinically credible language. This workshop equips play therapists with practical approaches to developing a treatment plan while remaining grounded in the core principles of CCPT. Participants will learn how to set goals and measurable objectives for a treatment plan aligned with CCPT. The session will guide clinicians through identifying where a child is in the treatment process and how to document that movement in meaningful, developmentally appropriate ways. Examples related to common presenting concerns—such as anxiety, aggression, and social difficulties—will illustrate how to create a practical treatment plan. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to confidently develop effective treatment plans, present treatment goals to parents/caregivers, and gain buy-in to the process.

Objectives:

1.     Participants will be able to describe core challenges of treatment planning within Child-Centered Play Therapy.
2.     Participants will be able to identify alignment of CCPT theoretical constructs with measurable objectives.
3.     Participants will be able to develop developmentally appropriate treatment goals and objectives aligned with CCPT principles and the child’s presenting concerns.
4.     Participants will be able to use concrete behavioral, emotional, and relational indicators to evaluate progress across common presenting issues such as anxiety, aggression, and social problems.
5.     Participants will be able to articulate CCPT-aligned therapy goals and objectives to parents/caregivers.
